A star produces light. So something is escaping from the star. So at the end the star can no longer produce light. She’s dying.

The sun will die in billions years. It will turn into a red giant and swallow the planets. It will be a long time since there will be no life on Earth.

Then the red giant will collapse on itself into a white dwarf. It will emit a little light.
